Penguin Girl volunteered with some girls from her Girl Scout troop to work at the annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser--all you can eat salad, spaghetti, and drink for $7. Her troop was signed up to clean and bus tables for about 2 hours. She told me that she received some compliments from the diners about what a good job she was doing. I saw her wiping tables very industriously and taking plates back to the kitchen. Afterwards, she reported that she had fun at the event. I told her I was glad to hear it because that meant she'd be able to get a job waiting tables and earn her own money.
